The Fender Stratocaster Guitar

Best known for it's Stratocaster model, Fender is a brand name that is trusted the world over! The Fender company has changed enormously since the 1950's when it only had one factory in southern California. The brilliant designs of Fender, however, have changed little in those fifty years.

The Stratocaster

Buddy Holly was the first artist to use the Fender Stratocaster. After Buddy, there are too many to count so here are a few greats. Jimi Hendrix, Eric Clapton, Kurt Cobain, David Gilmour.

The design of the Fender Stratocaster is truthfully one of the greatest designs of the twentieth century. It's contoured body, spring-tremolo system, and adjustable bridge saddles are just a few of the elements that set this guitar apart from the rest.

The "Feel"

When you sit down (or stand up ) and play a Stratocaster, it feels as if you have been playing it for years. Leo Fender and his partner Freddie Tavares consulted Bill Carlson, a local guitar player, to make a guitar that pleased the player. The contoured body is comfortable for the resting right arm. Gibson first solidbody, the Les Paul, didn't deal with this issue.

Versatility

The tone of the Stratocaster is probably one of the easiest guitar sounds to recognize. The first Stratocaster models had three different setting for the pickups - neck, middle, and bridge. The neck pickup is very warm, yet has a transparent quality also. The middle pickup is bright and pointed. The bridge pickup has a midrangy 'honk' that really cuts through a band for solos or rhythm playing.

2003 Stratocasters

There are so many Stratocasters out on the market right now it will spin your head! There are Mexican-made Stratocasters, Japanese-made Stratocasters, and American made Stratocasters. There are Squire models, Stevie-Ray models, vintage models, and many more.
