Lessons - Guitar Notation Reference
Refer to the bend, bend and release, and slide notation below
for instructions on playing and reading specific guitar techniques.

| 1/4 Bend-don't compare to another note |
1/2 Bend-compare to
1 fret higher |
Whole Bend-compare to 2 frets higher |

| 1 1/2 Bend-compare to 3 frets
higher. |
|

How to practice the Bend and Release:
- Play it, then play the comparison note(like in simple bends).
The peak of the bend, before the release, should sound like the
comparison note.
- If you are accidentally pulling another string when releasing,
use your other free finger(s) to touch that string while releasing.
