Beginning
1. The Thrill of Soloing
This lesson includes the basic concept
of a guitar solo, how scales are used in soloing, and the all-important
E blues scale. Playing a guitar solo can feel like snowboarding,
pool skating, rollerblading, or ski jumping.
In a split second, you use moves and tricks to create your own unique
style.
2. Slides
This lesson involves sliding a finger from one fret to another - one of the
most important techniques in rock guitar solo. You will first learn slide
licks, then you will learn how to create your own slide licks from the E blues

3. Half Step Bends
You will be slightly changing your left hand technique so that you can bend
a string. You will learn how to practice bends, you will learn a bend lick,

4. Hammer-ons/pull-offs
These are essential tools of a rock guitar solo- just ask Jimmy Page or Eddie
Van Halen! Learn the technique, licks, and how to create your own.

A great way to make your guitar licks and solo sizzle!! You will be slightly
changing your left hand technique to the string bending position. Learn how
to practice this guitar technique and play licks with vibratos.

Position Scales

1. Creativity in Soloing
In this guitar solo lesson, we will show you new ways to visualize,
approach, and execute a great guitar solo. AUDIO
2. Combination licks
Learn how to use multiple guitar techniques in a lick(not a note). For example,
use a vibrato and a slide, a bend and a slide, a double stop and a hammer-on.

3. Runs and Ideas
This lesson completes the basic soloing skills. With these new soloing tools,
you will be able to put together a completely formed guitar solo.

4. Creating your solo
You will try to make use of some or all of the techniques that you've learned
up to now. Slides, bends, vibratos, runs, repeated notes. An example guitar
solo is provided for you to hear and play. Practice with the practice tracks.

5. Double Stops
This is one of the easier techniques that will add meat to your guitar solo.
A double stop is 2 notes played with a strum. You will also be introduced to
the 1 finger bar - the first step in learning bar chords.

6. Natural Harmonics
one of the coolest guitar techniques known to man....natural harmonics. A natural harmonic occurs when you divide any guitar string into different lengths. You do this by barely touching the guitar string with a fret-hand finger, then picking the string.

8. Major Scale Modes
Most of you intermediate to advanced rock players out there have heard about scale modes...phrygian, dorian, etc. Scale modes are an absolute necessity for those of you who are attempting to take your solos somewhere else besides the blues and pentatonic scales!

1. Essentials of a Great Guitar Solo
Learn how to create a great guitar solo by looking at not only structure, but also essential notes called target tones!
2. Guitar Scale and Chord Relationships
Learning which guitar scale or scales goes with guitar chords is a MUST if you
want to play killer solos! In this lesson, learn how to use a Pentatonic, Major,
and Blues guitar scale over a simple chord progression.
3. Half step bends with vibrato
This is the icing on the cake for bending! Work on and listen to exercises and
